While some of it has already been covered in the about section, I thought it would still be a good idea to give you a better idea of the motivation(s) behind running Light Works Photography.

Light Works Photography began as a brand or repository for my “other” work. “Other” because at the time when I started Light Works Photography, I was a full-time professional photographer at one of the top bridal photography companies in Singapore. It wasn’t something I took very seriously at the time because I had so much bridal work on my plate that I hardly had time for anything else…

But as time went on, I began to realise that I cared about (and wanted to photograph) other things as well…

Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love and enjoy doing bridal photography! It is something I am passionate about and I feel very honoured to be able to photograph people at the happiest moments of their lives (objectively!), but I also felt a need to have some level of progression and challenge in my photography career.

Understandably, such a situation would not sit well with a company with an eye firmly on the bottom line, and as such, I took the scary decision to strike it out on my own in 2008.

And what a four years it has been!

I’m lucky and blessed to still have a lot of wedding work (a majority of which comes from recommendations, which I’m really pleased about because it makes me feel like I’m doing something right!) and still have the opportunity to work in other genres and projects I believe in.

Of particular note, I’ve started working on some architectural/landscape photography this year, as well as some dance photography (that is still in progress) that I’m really excited to show you.

I just want to take this opportunity to thank my family and friends for their tremendous support through this journey. Also to the hundreds of clients and customers through the years, thank you so much for choosing Light Works Photography! It really means a lot to me!

And to everyone else that’s not a customer yet, I’ve got some really great promotions to celebrate Light Work’s fourth year, and I hope to be of service to some of you soon!
